Central Faculty Exhibition -Marie Valdez / Raum

HCC Central Fine Arts Center Gallery3517 Austin Str., Houston, Tx 77004 713-718-6600 Ongoing through Friday, April 4, 2025, 8pm Artist Reception/Thursday, February 27 th from 6:00 PM -8:00 PM Description: The human condition, universal archetypes, and cultural identity have always been driving forces in Marie Valdez's artwork. The city of Houston became a foundation for her to explore these ideas :it's infrastructure, economy, population, and weather patterns have long provided both a visual and conceptual backbone in Valdez's paintings."Raum" builds on the atmospheric tone of Valdez's ongoing work while expanding on her more recent interest in bucolic rural imagery. Together, this body of work- which spans both geographies and techniques -portrays the interrelationships between beauty \& hope juxtaposed with destruction &desolation. Images representin g both dense urban environments and rural scenery serve as a reminder of the expansive and complex nature of life itself, while the title, "Raum", blurs the definition of space, place, and time.  More info: hcc.idloom.events…
